Since 1997, Leutscher has also designed monuments for the private market — in other words, grave markers. In this context, natural stone is not always used as the material.

A memorial stone in a cemetery must, of course, be durable, require as little maintenance as possible, and be safe. The design itself, however, is generally entirely free.

When the design is fully tailored to individual wishes, as a reflection of personal loss, the monument can play a supportive role in the process of mourning. As a visual artist, Leutscher has specialised in this field.

After an initial introductory meeting, during which wishes and possibilities — including financial considerations — are discussed in depth, a phase of design and realisation follows. The client(s) are involved from the very beginning, the design stage, through to the final placement. This involvement can also help in coming to terms with loss.
